The April 6 Kiting Clinic in Vallejo was a success.
On April 20, Don Creasman brought coffee and bagels at Mussel Rock for the Earth Day Cleanup, but unfortunately nobody else came, probably due to the conflict with the Dunlap Fly-in.
Another bad news. There will be no Anderson Fly-in this year. Gene P, the host-organizer is working on his cabin.
Next Fly-in’s

Berkeley Kite Festival July 26-27: Due to a business trip, Chip will not be available, and is looking for a volunteer to lead the BAPA/USHPA participation. This is a good opportunity for Instructors to introduce Paragliding, recruit new students/pilots and propose tandem flights.
If you are interested, please contact Chip directly.

The club (after removing members having not yet renewed their membership) accounts for 102 members. We have $ 8300 on the Bank Account.
Remember BAPA membership is based upon the calendar year. So if you have not yet renewed for 2013, please do it quickly.
To renew, go to the BAPA website and follow the instructions.

We have received an email message from Tony Lang asking the club to Help to Support The 2013 U.S. Paragliding Team, and arguing that two Bapa Pilots are members of the Team.
Susan K President thru Chip S suggested to allocate $300. Ricardo pointed out that in the past the participation was at $500 level. After a discussion a motion was moved, seconded and voted to allocate $ 400 to The 2013 U.S. Paragliding Team.
Old and New Business
From a pilots about the recent XC league at Dunlap.
Some pilots do not respect the landing area. The land owner told him there have been 4 or 5 incidents
The meeting was adjourned at 7:36 p.m.

Earth Day Cleanup at Mussel Rock - THIS Saturday, April 20, 9-11:30am
BAPA Members and Bay Area Pilots,
This Saturday, April 20th from 9-11:30am is the Earth Day cleanup in Pacifica. BAPA has supported this event together with the Pacifica Beach Coalition in the past and will continue to do so this year. We will be volunteering at one of our favorite flying sites, Mussel Rock. BAPA will be providing coffee and bagels to volunteers around 9am.
Information on the event can be found on the Pacifica Beach Coalition's website: www.pacificabeachcoalition.org
Please make a serious effort to come out this Saturday morning to volunteer and show the community that we as paraglider pilots are committed to preserving this spectacular part of California's coast that we all love to fly. The Pacifica Beach Coalition truly values our efforts in this event.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Next BAPA Fly-in - Dunlap, April 20th-21st, 2013
Hello Pilots!
The next BAPA Fly-in will be held at Dunlap, April 20th-21st, 2013. This fly-in was originally scheduled for Potato Hill, but due to the recent fire we have moved it to Dunlap. The road to Potato Hill will be closed until at least May 31, 2013.
Dunlap is one of the most consistent sites around. Note that Dunlap is a P-3 site. Please RSVP to me asap at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you're thinking about coming to Dunlap, and I'll set up an Evite with all the respondents early next week. We will do all the fly-in coordination via the Evite.
Our traditional camping/lodging location at Sequoia Highlands up top is not available to us due to some unfortunate circumstances. We will instead be staying at St. Nicholas Ranch in the Dunlap Valley. More information on St. Nicks is here: http://www.stnicholasranch.org/
St. Nicks has camping and dorm rooms for $15 per person per night. There are also a very limited number of lodge rooms available for $70 per night. I will have a better idea of lodge room availability later this week, but priority is being given to a larger group also staying at the ranch the same weekend. For Saturday dinner we will either eat at St. Nicks or go out to one of the local establishments.
If unfamiliar with Dunlap, please read up on the site at www.flyzephyr.com/dunlap.htm and the local club's webpage at www.flydunlap.com/ Note that everyone needs to pay their yearly flying dues to the local club prior to flying at Dunlap. Details can be found at the weblink above.
When you RSVP, please let me know your accommodation preference, ie camping/dorm/lodge room at St. Nicks or staying elsewhere.
Thanks,
Dave McMillan
