Next BAPA Meeting - Wednesday,May 2, 2012 in Redwood City
Hello BAPA Members and Bay Area Pilots,
This is a reminder of our upcoming BAPA bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. The meeting will be held at BAPA member RJ Mical's house in Redwood City. BAPA will be providing pizza and the first beer. If you would like additional beverages, please feel free to BYOB.
One of the main agenda items will be the discussion of USHPA Insurance Site Assessment and Risk Management. Immediately following the meeting we will have a presentation by Fermin Romero who will go over basic Ham Radio terminology and how to set up repeaters for 2 meter radios. It would be a good idea to bring your radio to the meeting.
Please come and also spread the word, it should be a fantastic meeting. And if you are a new BAPA member (or someone just interested in BAPA) this is a great opportunity to meet other enthusiastic local pilots! All are welcome.
Details are as follows:
6:30pm - Social Half Hour begins
7:00pm - Official Meeting begins
Immediately following the meeting - Ham Radio and Repeater Presentation
Location:
RJ Mical's House

New Webcam Pointed at Cheetah Ridge
The new webcam is now up and running at its new address: http://www.wunderground.com/webcams/CheetahRidge/1/show.html
It looks north with Cheetah Ridge on the left and Westlake in the background on the right. It should give a better perspective of how low the clouds are than the other two Dump/Mussel Rock webcams.
Does anyone out there have an in with the power company? That top of that power pole looks like a great place for a calibrated windsock.

Anderson Flat Fly-in - May 5-6, 2012
From Gene Pfeiffer, host of the annual fly-in:
The Fly-in will be the weekend of May 5, 2012. Our cabin is about 30 minutes from the launch site. You are all welcome to stay at our cabin and bunk house. Saturday night I will be making pizza in the outdoor clay oven. We now have five bedrooms, 3 double beds in the loft, and four single beds in the bunk house loft. If you want to stay in the cabin or bunk house, please send an email to me at:

If you want to come let me know and I will save you a bed. If all of the beds have been taken, bring a sleeping bag and air mattress for the large room in the bunk house. There is also room for pitching a tent. Their will be $10 collected per person for the cleaning lady.
Hopefully the weather conditions will be good for flying and no snow as we had to cancel last year. In the past we have usually been able to fly at least one of the days. P2 rated pilots should have some mountain flying thermal experience.
